William Hill Boxing Odds Review: Markets, In-Play and Rules
William Hill is a long-standing boxing book, and its method-of-victory market is a wide one. We looked at how to judge its boxing odds, the markets on a card, in-play, and how cancelled fights settle. It also has a £30 welcome offer in free bets.
R1William Hill at a glance
William Hill holds a Gambling Commission licence under account 39225, which we checked on the Commission’s public register on Friday 9 October 2026. The licence is the first thing we check, and it is what obliges the bookmaker to verify your age and identity, offer deposit limits and time-outs, handle complaints through an approved dispute service and take part in GamStop.
Our overall boxing score is 8.2 out of 10, the joint second-highest of the nine bookmakers we review, level with Betfred and behind only bet365. Its welcome offer does not affect the score: offers are added after the scores are set, never before.
| Criterion | Score | What decided it |
|---|---|---|
| Licence | 10 | Gambling Commission licence confirmed on the public register |
| Markets per fight | 8 | A wide method-of-victory market on top of the fight result |
| Undercard | 7 | Its lowest score: depth thins below the main event |
| In-play | 8 | Most of the main markets listed in-play |
| Rules on void fights | 8 | Void rules on the usual UK pattern |
| Payments | 8 | UK-permitted methods, no credit cards |

R2William Hill boxing odds and margins
Most people searching for William Hill boxing odds want the price on one fighter. The more useful number is the margin on the whole fight. A boxing match is a three-way market, with the draw as the third outcome, and each price converts to an implied chance. Add the three chances together and anything above 100% is the margin, the bookmaker’s built-in edge on the fight.
Take an illustrative book of 1/3 on the favourite, 5/2 on the underdog and 20/1 on the draw. Those imply 75.0%, 28.6% and 4.8%, a total of 108.3% and a margin of 8.3%. Shorten the draw to 16/1 and the total rises to 109.5%. The draw is small in chance but not in margin, which is why it is worth checking even if you never bet on it.
Margins at William Hill, as at every bookmaker, move from fight to fight and as money comes in, so we do not publish a single figure and call it the house margin. What we check is whether the fight result is priced in line with the other books on the same night. The quick way to do that yourself is to put William Hill’s three prices next to another bookmaker’s in our fight margin calculator, which shows both totals and the fair price of each fighter with the margin removed.
The markets built on the fight result carry wider margins everywhere. Method of victory and round betting split the same probability across more selections, and a little overpricing on each adds up. A round-betting market can carry a margin several times that of the three-way price, so the margin check matters more there, not less. Our round betting explainer shows how those prices are built.
R3Fight markets and undercard coverage
William Hill scores 8 for markets per fight, one point behind bet365’s 9 and level with Betfred, BetVictor and BoyleSports. The market it is known for on boxing is method of victory, which splits each fighter’s price into how the fight ends: a knockout or stoppage, a points decision or a disqualification. That turns a short-priced favourite at 1/3 into several longer questions, such as whether the favourite wins inside the distance or on the cards.
- Fight result. Red corner, blue corner or draw. Every other market starts from this one.
- Method of victory. Stoppage, points or disqualification, for either fighter.
- Goes the distance. Yes or no: does the fight last every scheduled round?
- Total rounds. Over or under a line such as 9.5 rounds, whoever lands the finish.
- Round and group-round betting. The round a fight ends in, or a block of three rounds.
Not every market appears on every fight, and our boxing betting markets guide explains what each one settles on. The undercard score is 7, the lowest on William Hill’s card. It measures how far down a card of eight or ten bouts the markets go beyond a plain fight-result price. A 7 means the bouts just below the main event usually get more than a result price, while the early fights get less. bet365, at 9, is the one to compare it with if undercard depth is what you are after.
R4In-play markets
In-play scores 8. Boxing prices usually move most in the sixty seconds between rounds, when a cut, a knockdown or a tiring fighter changes the picture. The in-play score measures which boxing markets the bookmaker lists in-play: William Hill lists most of the main ones, which is what an 8 means on our card.
Streaming is not part of the score. Boxing rights are sold card by card, and a fight shown by one broadcaster one month may be exclusive to another the next. Whether a particular William Hill fight can be watched on its site, and whether that needs a funded account or a bet, is something to check on the day of the fight rather than assume from a previous card.
In-play margins run wider than those before the fight at every bookmaker. A price that looks long in the interval still deserves the same margin check, and the pace of in-play betting is a reason to set a stake limit before the first bell, not during the fight.
R5Cancelled and changed fights
William Hill scores 8 for its rules on void fights, level with bet365 and the other high-street books. Boxing produces more changed bets than most sports: fights are postponed, opponents are replaced, a boxer misses weight or a bout ends early after an accidental clash of heads. Each case is decided by the bookmaker’s house rules, and the usual UK pattern looks like this.
- PostponedMost UK bookmakers keep a bet open if the same two boxers meet within a period set in the rules, and void it with the stake returned if they do not. The length of that period differs between books.
- Opponent changedA new opponent usually makes it a different fight, so bets on the original bout are void and a new market opens.
- Technical decisionThe fight result is usually settled on the judges’ cards. Method and round bets vary, so read the rule first.
- Retirement on the stoolMost UK bookmakers count a boxer who does not come out for the next round as stopped in the previous round.

R6Deposits and withdrawals
Payments score 8. The rules that shape them are the same at every licensed bookmaker in Great Britain. No credit cards, so deposits are made by UK-permitted methods such as debit cards; the cashier on your account lists which ones are open to you. Withdrawals usually go back to the method you deposited with.
Identity checks have to be complete before a first withdrawal, and that is the step that takes longest. If you plan to bet on a particular fight night, verify your account in the week before. Set a deposit limit in the account settings before the first deposit.
R7Welcome offer and terms
The offer is “Bet £10, get £30 in Free Bets”, and its key terms, summarised from the offer as published on 30 September and 1 October 2026, are at the top of this page and in the box below; the bookmaker’s own terms are the ones that apply. In plain words: it is for new customers aged 18 or over, and you enter the promo code R30. You deposit £10 and bet £10 or more at odds of 1/2, which is 1.5 in decimals, or longer. You then receive £30 in free bets for sports markets, valid for seven days.
Three points matter on a fight. The 1/2 minimum is lower than at most offers, so a favourite at 1/2 qualifies, while one at 1/3 does not. The deposit must not be made by PayPal, Skrill, NETELLER or Apple Pay, so use a debit card. And the free bets are for sports markets in general, so a fight is among the places they can go. All nine offers are compared on our boxing offers page.

R8Verdict
William Hill is one of the strongest boxing books in our standings, with a score of 8.2 built on an even card: 8 for markets, in-play, void rules and payments, and a single 7 for the undercard. Its method-of-victory market is the reason to use it on a big fight, and its prices on the fight result are worth putting through a margin check against the rest, as with any book.
Its welcome offer makes no difference to how it handles a fight, and the 1/2 minimum odds make it one of the easier offers to qualify for on a boxing night. New to betting on fights? William Hill questions
10 questions answered
Is William Hill licensed in the UK?
Yes. William Hill holds a Gambling Commission licence under account 39225, which we checked on the Commission’s public register on Friday 9 October 2026. The licence is what obliges it to verify your age, offer deposit limits and take part in GamStop.
Does William Hill have a welcome offer for boxing?
Yes. At the time of writing it is “Bet £10, get £30 in Free Bets” for new customers aged 18 or over, with the promo code R30. You deposit £10 and bet £10 or more at odds of 1/2 or longer; PayPal, Skrill, NETELLER and Apple Pay deposits do not qualify. The £30 in free bets is for sports markets, so it can go on a fight, and it lasts seven days. The offers page sets it beside the other eight.
How do I compare William Hill boxing odds with other bookmakers?
Convert the three prices on the fight (red corner, blue corner and draw) to implied chances and add them up. The total above 100% is the margin, and the book with the smaller total is the fairer one on that fight; our fight margin calculator does the sum for two bookmakers at once.
Why does William Hill score 8.2 out of 10?
It scores 10 for its licence, 8 for markets, in-play, void-fight rules and payments, and 7 for undercard coverage. The average is 8.2, level with Betfred and behind only bet365 among the nine bookmakers we review.
What is the method of victory market at William Hill?
Method of victory splits each fighter’s price into how the fight ends: a knockout or stoppage, a points decision or a disqualification. It is the market William Hill is known for on boxing, and our markets guide explains how it settles.
Can I watch boxing on William Hill?
Streaming is not part of our score, because boxing rights change from card to card and broadcaster to broadcaster. Check on the day whether a particular fight is shown, and whether it needs a funded account or a bet.
What happens to a William Hill bet if the opponent changes?
At most UK bookmakers a change of opponent makes it a different fight, so bets on the original bout are void and the stakes returned. Check the William Hill boxing rules for the exact wording before you bet.
Can I use a credit card at William Hill?
No. William Hill follows the UK ban on credit card gambling. Deposits are made by UK-permitted methods such as debit cards, and the cashier on your account shows which are available.
Is William Hill good for undercard betting?
It scores 7 for the undercard, one point below its other scores. The fights just below the main event are the ones most likely to carry more than a result price, so check an early bout before planning a bet on it.
How do I set limits or self-exclude at William Hill?
Deposit limits, reality checks and time-outs are in the account settings. To block every licensed site at once, register with GamStop; our responsible gambling page lists every option.
